The distribution network is composed of
pre-insulated pipes and accessories which are mainly installed underground. The pipes are composed of the heat transfer pipe, insulation foam to limit heat loss during fluid transport and an outer casing to provide mechanical protection.
The network operates as a closed circuit and is composed of a dual piping system: One system carries heated fluid to the point of delivery to users (sub-stations), the other returns the cold fluid to the production plant.
To summarise we can identify two types of networks:
- The primary network: transports heat from the production plant to the sub-stations located in proximity to the buildings to be supplied.
- The secondary network: distributes heat from the sub-stations to the individual appartments in the buildings.
