TUCAL twin pipe bends consist of:
- 2 inner pipes
- insulation by shell of rock wool, glass wool or other insulation material depending on the temperature
- a steel outer casing coated with PE.
The inner bends consist of a standardised steel bend welded to two straight lengths. The outer casing is made from straight pipe segments. TUCAL bends are made to measure.
Two parameters affect the diameter of the bends outer casing:
- the temperature of the fluid transported which governs the thickness of the chosen insulation
- the number of inner pipes
The outer casing’s diameter can be increased at the bends to allow more space for the inner pipes to expand.
Depending on the specifications and regulatory requirements, various quality controls are carried out on the bend welds, including X-ray inspections and pressure tests.
